Workday Project Lead

Niantic’s People Team Project Lead to be responsible for the Workday implementation and support the next phase of our people operations excellence. The Project Lead will be directly responsible for overseeing all stages and project delivery. The responsibilities include assembling project teams, assigning individual responsibilities and ensuring accountability, developing and maintaining a budget and schedule to ensure timely completion of project, maintaining standard project management documentation and metrics with limited direction, working directly with internal and implementation partner, cross functional team members to deliver successful implementation. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for promoting team engagement, building and fostering successful relationships across the organization. This is a critical and high profile project, and you will be leading from the front on making this a successful implementation.


  • Lead and drive the success of Workday project for Niantic.
  • Responsible for maintenance of project performance, cost, scope, schedule, quality, and business measurements.
  • Work with the system implementation partner Engagement Manager to identify/resolve all issues that could impact project scope and/or time frames.
  • Work with Workday Delivery Assurance to ensure compliance with agreed to checkpoints.
  • Create and deliver project level documentation including status reports, RAID logs, project and resource plans etc.
  • Ensure project is delivered on-time, on-budget and meeting business objectives.
  • Lead project scoping, financial analysis and estimating efforts to complete the Workday enhancements and support annual releases.
  • Experienced with Workday implementation methodology, Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.


  • 5+ years previous program/project management experience required including scope and requirements definition, problem solving and process improvements in current Internet-based technology environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading Workday project implementation and desired experience going from UKG Pro, including HCM, Compensation, Talent, Learning, Payroll/Time Tracking.
  • Previous functional/technical HCM, Payroll and Financials deployment experience either as an internal consultant or with a consulting/software organization.
  • Ability to recognize personal skills, abilities, limitations and strengths, taking appropriate action to pursue developmental activities to strengthen skills and experience.
  • You are proficient and knowledgeable with HCM solutions including Workday, UKG Pro, Culture Amp, and Greenhouse and an authority with data conversion and migration and testing.
  • You have demonstrable experience in navigating diverse priorities in a fast-paced, vibrant environment.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams, for both technical and non-technical audiences, both internally and externally.
  • Flexible and creative, at ease with ambiguity, organized and detail oriented.
  • Understanding of HRIS database design, structure, functions and processes.
  • Advanced skills in Excel (index functions, array formulas, advanced formulas, etc.) and overall proficiency in MS Office and Google suite, as well as project management software.
  • Workday Project Management Certification strongly preferred.
  • If not already Workday certified, must successfully pass Workday HCM and/or Financials Core and PM training classes and retain Workday certification.
