Web Developer

Niantic’s Art/UX/Design team seeks a Web Developer to build websites and UI components. The person who fills this role should bring top-class frontend development as well as possessing a strong set of eyes for good UX. The developer will work closely with multi-functional teams to help tell the story of Niantic, which leads the advancement of AR and other immersive technologies while creating engaging apps for millions of people.

Niantic works with some of the world's most advanced AR technologies to design visually innovative, bleeding-edge mobile experiences for tens of millions of users worldwide, encouraging discovery, exercise, and meaningful social experiences.


  • Develop and maintain websites and web components that are inclusive, user-centered, accessible, performant, secure, and maintainable.
  • Write tests and documentations.
  • Partner with internal and external design and development resources as part of the regular workflow.
  • Develop tools to maintain new and existing site content and static or dynamic web pages & content.
  • Work independently and organize one’s own time / priorities given higher-level goals.


  • Demonstrate ability crafting and implementing medium-large scaled and inclusive websites and applications.
  • Expertise of Web Standards (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), solid knowledge on accessibility and web performance.
  • Strong sense of interaction and visual design.
  • Professional experience on modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, etc.), package managers (npm), testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, etc.), CSS preprocessors (PostCSS, Sass, etc.), and Git.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience on server-side programming (Python, Node.js, etc.).
  • Experience with web template engines (Django, jinja2, Nunjucks, etc.).

  • You have experience creating the Web Standard-based Web Components.
  • You have worked on a design system.
  • You have worked on websites that require localization and internationalization.
  • You worked with static-site generators.
  • You have knowledge of Cloud infrastructure.
