Life at Niantic

Niantic is the world’s leading augmented reality (AR) company. By creating mobile, AR, location-based games such as Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, and flagship title Ingress: Prime, Niantic has encouraged people to discover new places, meet new people, and get healthier along the way.

Our Values

Niantic inspires people to explore the world, together.

Start with a worthy goal.

We seek to build products that inspire people to see the world differently and to move, explore, and enjoy it together, using technology to enrich the lives of our users through exploration, exercise, and social interaction.

Invite everyone on board.

We want to create the best products. Doing that requires the best ideas from a diverse team — and those ideas will only emerge if we provide a safe and supportive environment where those different points of view can be shared.

Lead from the front.

We know that the best way for our leaders to inspire our teams is to be willing to roll up our sleeves and do whatever it takes to help the team and the company succeed.

Set waypoints, and then stay on course.

We welcome healthy debate that is supported by data and logic. Once we make a decision (often by consensus, or by a group leader when needed) we commit to it 100% so that we can move forward with speed and confidence to the next waypoint.

Speak the truth, to serve the mission.

We speak the truth to serve a constructive purpose, useful to the company and our goals. We don’t support speech which is cynical, untrue, or designed to harm others.

See it through.

We know that accountability comes from finishing the job, not simply responding to email. When someone at Niantic says “I’ve got this,” you know they will see it all the way through.

Weather storms.

We won’t always succeed, and that’s OK. When we fail, we look for how to improve, not who to blame.

Summit mountains.

We recognize that we are taking on massive challenges that will bring us into competition with some of the largest and most powerful companies in the world. We are motivated by knowing that focus, agility, and perseverance are our advantages, even against the most formidable competition.

Our Locations

San Francisco Sunnyvale Bellevue Los Angeles London Hamburg Tokyo Zürich

Our San Francisco office is located on the 2nd floor of the historic Ferry Building. The building first opened in 1898 and was the city’s primary transport hub until the construction of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridge in the 1930s. It is now mainly occupied for office space, the Ferry Building Marketplace where there are over 50 various shops and restaurants, as well as the Farmer’s Market which opens twice a week. It has been our headquarters since late 2017.

Our seven story office building was constructed in 2001 and is conveniently located in the downtown area near major highways and public transportation. There are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, gyms, and shopping areas all within walking distance of our office.

One Bellevue Center opened in 1983 and is located in Downtown Bellevue where there are plenty of restaurants, shopping centers, museums and a downtown park. Downtown Bellevue is only 10 miles away from Downtown Seattle.

Our office building was built in 1956, and is located right within Culver City. It’s across the street from the Culver City Metro station, nearby shops at Platform, and in the middle of an emerging tech hub known as Silicon Beach.

Our London office spans four floors in a newly refurbished building in the heart of London’s West End. The office has floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, a roof terrace with views across iconic sites such as the London Eye and Big Ben, and is conveniently situated within a short walk of major National Rail and Underground stations. We have a wide variety of fitness studios and gyms, Covent Garden’s numerous boutiques and shops, and cultural attractions such as the National Portrait Gallery and Somerset House on our doorstep.

Built in 1905, the Kaufmannshaus in Hamburg was given a revamp in 2013 and now shines with the exclusive charm of a former office building. Situated in the middle of Hamburg’s traditional shopping and passage quarter (Große Bleichen), it houses high-end retail and office space. Located in Hamburg-Neustadt with a direct view onto Bleichenfleet, this modern space is the home to the rent24 coworking office.

Niantic Tokyo, our first office established outside of the United States, is located in the Aoyama district of Tokyo. The building where the Tokyo office is located has direct underground access to the subway station, CVS and restaurants. The 2020 Olympic Stadium, parks and rows of beautiful ginkgo trees are located near our office, which constantly reminds us of the four seasons.

Niantic Switzerland is located in a modern and thriving co-working space in the heart of Zurich, just one minute away from Paradeplatz. While we are currently very small, we do have our own office rooms in the co-working space. At the same time, we get to use all its amenities (i.e. a coffee barista in the house). All sorts of shopping and entertainment are just around the corner, as are some of the very first Ingress portals.

Naoyuki Ishitsuka

Even after over a year of working here, it’s hard to believe my job is to bring out the best in Pokémon. I’m able to put my heart into the iconic characters that I grew up with, and have that hard work reach millions of players.

Ethan Chan

Software Engineer Pokémon GO Tokyo

I love working at Niantic because I believe we have a supportive, inclusive culture, where folks are encouraged to be their authentic selves. Our mission to get folks outside, exercising and exploring their communities resonates with me. Niantics have a lot of passion for our products, we’re all in it together and we want the company to be successful. As part of the recruiting team, I try to represent our values, and I have a clear understanding of how my work positively affects the company.
